"If I am sitting with someone in dialog, or out for a walk in nature, I'm paying attention to the signs that catch my eye signaling me to stop and take a photo."- Fay Senner
Listen to a musical interpretation of my birth chart
What I like about photography and taking pictures is the immediacy of it, as well as the surprise factor. My photographic work spans the better part of 30 years, including pinhole images taken from a hand-made camera, manipulated Polaroid SX-70s, as well as photo transfers. Currently I am taking pictures with my cell phone and fiddling with various apps that can merge and alter images at far greater speeds than in the past.
All of these works are available for purchase. Please contact me for more information.
My first exposure to photography was by making a pinhole camera out of a Quaker Oats box. I was mesmerized by the fact that I could capture an image on a piece of paper with no viewfinder, no light meter, no shutter, just a box with a tiny hole in it. All I had to rely on was the Sun and my own intuition.
The ancient stone circles and sacred sites throughout the world hold the mysteries to the heavens and stars and have a magnetic pull to them. Many were intentionally built on ley lines thought to connect important and sacred sites throughout the world with electromagnetic energy. In 2009, for my 50th birthday, around the time of my Chiron return, I gave myself a gift. I hired a helicopter and I took aerial photographs of some crop circles in Wiltshire, England. The beauty and mystery that surrounds these formations, along with the shapes and symbols, intrigue me to this day.
Matted Polaroid SX70s
Polaroid SX-70 film, now obsolete, was another great joy and pleasure to work with. The ability to alter the image is what drew me to this medium, along with its one-of-a-kind, tile-like qualities.
The Polaroid SX-70 camera was instant and interactive. I would manipulate the emulsion as it was developing by pulling it apart and scraping away some of the image. Afterwards, using a light box, I would go back in, adding elements of collage. This is now easily done through software like Photoshop, or with cell phone apps through a click of a button.
These images were all photographs I found in magazines and then transferred onto paper. In some cases I went back in and worked the image further with mark-making tools or collaged elements.
It's funny what we come to value. I found these old 35 mm slides of color photographs that my mother took back in the early 50s and 60s. The Polaroid transfer process magically offers a soft painterly, dream-like quality that I just love. Using an Instant Slide Printer and then delicately transferring these images onto watercolor paper, I was able to capture the essence of both Time and Place.

I have the planet Mercury (Communication & the Mind) within a degree of its higher octave, Uranus (Electricity & Surprises) in the Fire sign of Leo. Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed creating and making things with my hands. The act of painting papers, or working with waxed pigments helps to calm me.
I love plants and working with paper, making eco-dyed prints or hand-made papers and then using these in collages or small hand-made books. When making a collage I prefer to use my own photographs whenever possible to express a story or bring personal meaning to the piece.
